Sean Macfarlane, Founder
Sean is originally a Molecular and Cellular Biologist turned Founder with a strong background in IVD Biotechnology and years of industry experience.
His work is driven by a deep commitment to translational research — turning scientific innovation into real-world solutions that make a tangible impact in clinical settings. His work has a deep focus on molecular methodologies for improving early cancer detection, compounded with an interest in system automation and clinical workflow integrations, making tangible solutions for rapid clinical adoption.
At Biomarx, Sean will lead technical development and wet-lab activities as Biomarx transitions out of Proof of Concept and towards MVP.
Alex Harkin, Chief Operations Officer
Alex Harkin is an experienced Research and Development Manager specialising in the biochemistry in vitro diagnostics (IVD) biotech with a strong background in Analytical Biosciences.
She has extensive expertise in IVD product registration under the European In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVD-R) framework, US FDA 510(k) clearance processes and the transition process to manufacturing design and development.
At Biomarx, as Chief Operating Officer, Alex will be responsible for implementing an ISO 13485 Quality Management System, maintaining Investor relations, and Regulatory Affairs.
